Clean Cooking Activities
a. Promote the adoption of clean and efficient cooking devices and the dissemination of sustainable biomass and modern fuels for all ECOWAS households;
b. Ensure quality, durable, affordable, and sustainable cooking devices; biomass and modern fuels are disseminated to enhance environmental performance and public health;
c. Introduce a suitable regional governance mechanism for consultation, coordination, and financing to ensure a coordinated implementation of actions.
Actions of the initiative are carried out in a coordinated manner, at the regional and national level, taking into consideration the specific characteristics of each country. WA少妇自慰 works on these main thematic areas: Policy and regulatory framework, investment/financing, capacity-building, knowledge-sharing, awareness-building, and standards and labeling. The regional action plan on clean cooking energy was just validated. Currently, WA少妇自慰 plans to work with all 15 member states to draft national action plans. After two consecutive training session of SMEs in the cooking energy field, WA少妇自慰 plans to run a annual Stove Academy in West Africa. Lastly, WA少妇自慰 is working to establish a USD 5 million business fund to scale-up innovative business models or technologies in West Africa.
On the fuels side WA少妇自慰 is working with Niger on its LPG strategy as well with some SMEs productive bio-ethanol and briquettes.
Partnership
WA少妇自慰 can contribute to the goals of the Global Alliance in West Africa. At the policy level, WA少妇自慰 validated the regional policy on cooking energy. As a result of this effort, each of the 15 member states are required to institute a national policy in order to translate the objectives of the regional policy. This development will set the stage for more enabling environment and coordinated intervention to attract the necessary resources.
WA少妇自慰 is currently working to develop an annual Stove Academy, which allows professionals (producers, distributors, and researchers) to be trained in specific topics.
WA少妇自慰 plans to ensure there are basic testing labs in all 15 member states, as quality assurance is key to a viable market.
A business development fund to support innovation and scale-up is under development. This fund will target only SMEs in West Africa.
WA少妇自慰 is providing technical assistance to organizations and SMEs to improve their operations.
A large awareness campaign is being developed for the 15 members states.
The goal is to support the private sector through policy framework, financing, and technical assistance in order to achieve the dissemination of 1 million cookstoves per year and to increase the portion of the population using LPG by 20% by 2020.
A bioenergy policy and gender-mainstreaming policy were also validated all of which contribute to ensuring an enabling environment.
To make this partnership dynamic and efficient WA少妇自慰 can serve as an implementing partner of the Global Alliance in West Africa especially in countries where the Global Alliance is not as active, such as French and Portuguese-speaking countries. WA少妇自慰 and the Alliance should develop a strategic plan or use WA少妇自慰's regional plan as a basis for collaboration in order to attract resources for the 15 ECOWAS countries. WA少妇自慰's mission is intertwined with that of the Global Alliance; every activity that WA少妇自慰 implements is contributing towards the objectives of the Global Alliance. Moreover, WA少妇自慰 can evaluate proposals in French and Portuguese to increase the Global Alliance's presence in West Africa outside of Ghana and Nigeria. WA少妇自慰 is proposing and moderating a panel discussion at the Ghana Forum and sponsoring some participants. We are hoping to have a give-and-take partnership with the Global Alliance and we believe no other organization is better positioned than ECREEE to support the work of the Global Alliance in West Africa.
