The 聽(UNFCCC) Secretariat recently commissioned research聽to establish updated fraction of non-renewable biomass (fNRB) values and has now released the first batch of results, which include national and subnational values for sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This research was conducted by leading scientists at the 聽(SEI) and the 聽(UNAM) and聽provides an opportunity for more accurate accounting of the climate impacts of clean cooking projects, and for聽harmonization聽across the clean cooking carbon market.
During this聽webinar, Rob Bailis (SEI) and Adrian Ghilardi (UNAM) will provide an overview of the research behind these updated fNRB values, discuss the results and their implications, and share next steps, including how to participate in UNFCCC’s 聽ending November 3, 2023.
